The Tanzania Zambia Mafuta Pipeline (TAZAMA) management has commended the Zambia Police Service for its continued efforts in safeguarding critical pipeline installations across the country.
The appreciation was expressed during a familiarisation tour conducted by the Commanding Officer for the TAZARA Division, Commissioner of Police Chomba Chaongopa.
TAZAMA’s Senior Manager for Research and Operations, Patrick Matova, told officials that key installations along the Zambian stretch of the pipeline from Nakonde to Ndola have recorded no major security breaches since enhanced collaboration with the police.
He said the strengthened partnership has played a significant role in improving surveillance and protecting the infrastructure from potential threats.
Mr Chaongopa described the TAZAMA pipeline as a strategic national asset, underlining its importance to Zambia’s energy security and broader economic stability.
“The TAZAMA pipeline remains a vital national asset that requires unwavering protection,” he said. “We have intensified intelligence-led operations, increased patrols, and strengthened rapid response mechanisms to ensure its security.”
He added that the police service remains committed to safeguarding the infrastructure against any form of threat.
During the visit, Mr Chaongopa also toured police camps under the TAZARA Division, where he commended officers for their professionalism and dedication in protecting key installations.
