Chipata City Council has procured a modern dental chair for Chipata District Hospital at a cost of nearly K120,000, using funds from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), in a move aimed at improving oral healthcare services in the district.
The equipment, purchased at K119,950, was officially handed over to the hospital this week and reflects the Government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery at local level through targeted CDF investments.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Hospital senior medical officer-in-charge Emmanuel Kameya said the new dental chair would significantly enhance the facility’s capacity to provide timely and efficient services.
“The chair will greatly enhance our ability to attend to patients more efficiently and in a more comfortable environment,” Dr Kameya said.
He noted that the hospital has experienced a growing demand for dental services, adding that the new equipment is expected to reduce patient waiting times and improve overall treatment outcomes. Dr Kameya also commended the Chipata Central CDF Committee and the local authority for prioritising health-related projects.
Meanwhile, Chipata City Council assistant public relations officer Tyson Mulauzi said the council remains committed to ensuring that CDF resources are directed towards initiatives that have a direct and positive impact on the lives of residents.
He said investments in healthcare infrastructure demonstrate the local authority’s resolve to support Government efforts in improving access to quality health services across the district.
