President Hakainde Hichilema is expected to preside over this year’s Labour Day commemorations in Chinsali on Friday.
The event will be held at the Expo Grounds, where the Head of State is scheduled to join workers and other stakeholders in marking the annual celebration.
Muchinga Province Minister Njavwa Simutowe said the President will also engage with traditional leaders, trade unions and party officials following the commemorations.
Mr Simutowe added that President Hichilema is expected to commission Lubwa Primary School, where he has facilitated the construction of a one-by-three classroom block.
He expressed gratitude to the President for decentralising national events, saying the move is helping bring government services and leadership closer to the people.
The minister further noted that this year’s Labour Day theme aligns with the government’s broader economic agenda, as it highlights the critical role of workers in driving national development and transformation.
The 2026 Labour Day is being held under the theme: “Securing Zambia’s Future of Work: Protecting Jobs, Skills and Pensions for Decent Work for All.”
