The Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) has suspended Eligands Technologies from participating in public procurement for one year after failing to deliver on a contract at Chimwemwe Level Two Hospital.
In a statement issued on Thursday, ZPPA said the sanction follows an investigation into the company’s performance on a contract valued at K66,750 for the installation of 11 CCTV cameras at the hospital.
The cameras were to be installed in key areas, including the pharmacy, maternity ward, radiology unit and kitchen.
ZPPA Principal Officer for Public Relations, Inutu Mushambatwa, said the inquiry was launched in March 2026 after the authority received a formal complaint from the hospital.
Findings revealed that Eligands Technologies had received an advance payment of K36,750 and only supplied cables valued at K3,888, but failed to proceed with the installation of the CCTV system.
“ZPPA established that Eligands Technologies was paid an advance payment of K36,750 and supplied cables worth K3,888, but did not install the CCTV cameras,” Ms Mushambatwa said.
The authority has since invoked Section 96(g) of the Public Procurement Act, as amended, to impose the one-year suspension.
ZPPA has also directed the company to refund the advance payment, less the value of the materials supplied.
The suspension took effect on 21 April 2026.
